Due to an unfortunate flaring up of a foot injury, I was unable to go snowboarding this past weekend. I joined other folks up at the condo in Tahoe but when they went to Squaw, I spent the day watching movies and playing Plants vs. Zombies (an awesome iPhone game). So goes the end of the season! With numerous trips and our impending move, looks like we’re done for the season.
Here’s a sweet map of the U.S. made out of lift tickets. Saw this at Steamboat Springs, CO.

Love the narrow console table in this kitchen. And the green really brightens up the kitchen. A great idea to add surface area without taking up too much space! The rest of the house in this tour is pretty neat too. Check it out here: Rustic Modern Apartment

1936 Green Bay Packers vs. Boston Redskins
I’m not the biggest football fan. Well, actually, I’m not a football fan at all. I gave it a shot a few years back but just couldn’t get excited about the game. Maybe I was never able to grasp what was going on beyond the most basic of concepts: touchdowns, field goals, interceptions. All of the other plays, the positions, the different teams, why there are so many friggin people on the sidelines kinda confused me. And the commercials! Sheesh. The game stops constantly. Mike even pointed out the guy who stands on the field while a commercial is airing to let everyone know. Maybe they do these things in other sports but it’s much less noticeable.
Anyways, the one aspect that I’ve been interested in is whether football is dangerous. Not just dangerous in the sense that you may sprain an ankle or bruise a toe. Dangerous in that frightening, life-altering brain injury sort of way. Little boys grow up playing football. Sure, their tiny frames don’t have much of an impact when they collide but they grow up to possibly play in high school where the hits are harder and the damage more severe. If they play in college or go pro, they’re going up against huge guys, 300 lb guys and a concussion is no joke. Time Magazine recently had an article on the subject. It’ll be interesting to see how the game changes. The Problem with Football: How to Make It Safer

I had this crazy dream the other night where Mike and I, along with a few other folks who didn’t show up quite clearly, rented very large, very fuzzy Where the Wild Things Are costumes and wore them around. Mine, unfortunately was a wee bit small so I had to go exchange it for another one. They were out of the traditional brown costumes though so I got a purple one instead. I was a giant purple fuzzy monster. I should rent Where the Wild Thing Are.

I don’t remember exactly how I came across George RR Martins “A Song of Ice and Fire” series but it is truly fantastic. I’ve always been in to the sci-fi/fantasy genre, both of my parents read a lot of those types of books, but aside from Harry Potter and the YA series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, haven’t read much of the genre in a few years. A Game of Thrones, the first of a planned 7-book series by Martin, totally hooked me. And now they’re planning to make a TV series! HBO has completed the pilot and are expected to make a decision about the rest of the series by March 2010. If the show is picked up, filming will continue in mid-2010 with the series most likely set to air beginning early 2011. The cast for the pilot can be seen here: A Game of Thrones Cast . I think they all really fit the parts and I’m really looking forward to this show being on the air!! More info on the possibility of HBO picking up the show here: A Song of Ice and Fire Forum Yup, that’s right, I was on a Song of Ice and Fire forum. So dorky!
